Afternoon Update: WWE Network 99 cent offer, WrestleMania ticket pricing and on-sale date details, 2019 WWE house show main events, Baszler compliments Triple H, Cody on WWE future, Smackdown rating drop


-WWE sent out an email to ex-subscribers offering two months of WWE Network for 99 cents with Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar for the vacated Universal Title at Crown Jewel as the top graphic. No mention of where Crown Jewel is being staged. The other matches shown under the logo are A.J. Styles defending the WWE Title against Daniel Bryan and DX (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) vs. Brothers of Destruction (Kane & Undertaker). It also touts Nov. 17’s NXT War Games, Nov. 18’s Survivor Series, and Dec. 16’s WWE TLC PPV all within that two month window for just 99 cents. PWTorch reader Chuck Shingledecker writes:

I just received an email from WWE saying ‘we want you back’ (after cancelling my subscription) with a huge Crown Jewel banner. The irony is I cancelled BECAUSE of Crown Jewel. I lived just fine for 10 years without WWE during the post Austin/Rock era. I’ll survive without them now.”

-WWE announced that tickets for WrestleMania 35 go on sale on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. ET. The event takes place on Apr. 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, N.J. at Met Life Stadium. Tickets range from $35 to $1,000 with a limited number of “Gold Circle” tickets in the $2,000-2,500 range. The Gold Circle packages include seating in the first nine rows ringside, access to a Gold Circle VIP Stadium Entrance and a commemorative WrestleMania take-home folding chair. In addition, WrestleMania Travel Packages, which will include tickets to WrestleMania Week events, will be available Monday, Nov. 5 starting at noon ET at press release touts the following about WrestleMania weekend festivities:

WrestleMania is more than just a one-day event; it is a week-long celebration. In addition to WrestleMania, other events include: WrestleMania Axxess®, WWE’s interactive fan festival, and four spectacular live events taking place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, including the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony; NXT TakeOver, Monday Night Raw®and SmackDown® Live.

WWE will also host activities designed to give back to the local community during WrestleMania Week including Be a STAR bullying prevention rallies, hospital visits and Make-A-Wish events. Additional information on these events will be announced in the future at

Over the past 11 years, WrestleMania has generated more than $1 billion in cumulative economic impact for the cities that have hosted the event.

-Smackdown last week drew among the lowest ratings in the show’s history – 1.46. It drew a 1.5 on July 3 earlier this year, but that’s considered a holiday weekend rating where there are often ratings drops. The same week last year Smackdown drew a 1.46 rating and two years ago it drew a 1.56. The 2018 average for Smackdown so far is 1.68 million, down from the average through this week in 2017 of 1.75. Viewership last Tuesday was 2.087 million, down from the 2.545 million for the Smackdown 1000 special.

-Shayna Baszler told the Breaking Kayfabe podcast that Triple H has been highly supportive of women wrestling behind the scenes. “He’s really invested in building up the women, he treats us like wrestlers, he’ll talk to me like he does to Adam Cole,” she said. “I wish people would understand how much freedom he gives us. Just the fact we’re getting a creative say is making it different.” (LISTEN HERE)

-WWE has announced matches for the Jan. 5 house show in Tallahassee, Fla.: Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental Title and Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman in a two-on-one match. [Thanks to PWTorch reader Chris K.]

-Cody Rhodes told fans on the Jericho Cruise that he has no intention of signing with WWE and he is going to do everything in his power to promote an All In 2 event, according to a WrestlingInc report. The rumors are flying about Cody’s future, including being part of a new promotion launched by the Jacksonville Jaguars owners or signing with the NWA as part of an big expansion of the NWA with a new national prime time cable clearance. Reports of discontent with New Japan management earlier this month led to odds tilting toward Cody and his cohorts from All In being more likely to sign with WWE after all. This statement seems to tilt the odds back to Cody exploring options outside of WWE instead.
