MANCHESTER, NJ — For nearly 50 years, Julius Bee was a member of the Manchester Township Schools family, universally loved and respected by students, staff and the community at large.
On Thursday night, the district paid a fitting tribute to Bee with a parade of the district’s buses past the funeral home where visitation was being held to welcome friends and family of the driver, who died Jan. 9 at the age of 89.
Video shared by Jennifer Lockwood captured the stream of buses as they drove past Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home on Lacey Road in Whiting, lights flashing, to honor their friend. (See the video below.)

“Generations of Manchester students, colleagues, and residents knew Mr. Bee as a smiling, friendly, and comforting bus driver who safely transported students to and from school, day in and day out,” the Manchester Township School District said in a statement after his death. “He provided consistency as a friendly face for all of the students he transported, even Manchester’s student-athletes who he regularly transported to and from sports games around the state.”
His funeral service was scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the Whiting Bible Church, 95 Lacey Road, with burial with military honors to follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Arneytown, NJ, at 1 p.m.
