Concord Snowmobiler Avoids Injury During North Country Crash

PITTSBURG, NH — A snowmobiler from Concord was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure on Saturday after a crash in Pittsburg.

Around 3:15 p.m., Pittsburg police and New Hampshire Fish & Game officials were sent to Back Lake for a crash report. A snowmobile rider, Lance Boudreau, 37, of Concord, “was racing a friend on Back Lake at a high-rate speed when suddenly he hit a slush-filled hole in the ice and subsequently lost a ski, which resulted in a rollover,” Lt. Bob Mancini of fish and game said. “The snowmobile sustained major damage and the operator was thrown from the snowmobile.”

At the time of the crash, he said, the Back Lake Shootout race was being held, but Boudreau was not involved in the event, Mancini said.

EMTs took Boudreau to the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook as a precautionary measure, he said.

“Traveling at high speeds on frozen water bodies and trails can be hazardous and result in serious bodily injury or death,” Mancini added. “Conservation officers would like to remind snowmobile operators to always operate within their abilities and to always wear the proper safety equipment.”
