Wednesday Update

WWE

Kevin Nash reflected on yesterday being the one-year anniversary of Scott Hall’s death: “Was tough to be on social media today as it was a year to the day Scott passed. Alot of people reached out. Realize it's just another Tuesday without my partner. Not a day goes by that I don't think of and miss him. Cassidy his daughter put a rose on his grave for each of us”Finn Balor posted a tweet asking Mick Foley for advice ahead of facing Edge in a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania. Foley responded: “Hello Finn, This is Mick! Remember, you are asking a guy who has never actually won one of these. Probably best to study every single thing I did in my #HIAC matches…and then do the exact opposite. When in doubt, use the abs.”With him having so many projects, the AP asked John Cena if the pace of his schedule ever becomes too much:I’m feeling my age, so to speak. I could use a little bit of rest, but all my choice. These are wonderful things to be a part of. This one I’m really excited for because this movie [Grand Death Lotto] does not stop. It is going to be action from the opening credits. We have a great team that mixes action and comedy. I’m also trying to do my best to, I hate the term work-life balance, but I’m trying to do my best to not fall into the trap of workaholism where I just hide in my work and I’m not a fully open, vulnerable human being to the people around me, the people that I love. I haven’t yet sacrificed my relationships for my work. I’m at a pretty good pace right now where I can hit on all cylinders.Rhea Ripley, Maximum Male Models, and Ric Flair made appearances on WWE’s The Bump this afternoon.Austin Theory will be on The Bump next Wednesday.Former WWE head writer Brian Gewirtz was a guest on The Bill Simmons Podcast.WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded the following: Batista chooses Triple H as his WrestleMania 21 opponent (February 21, 2005 Raw), Triple H vs. Sheamus (WrestleMania XXVI), and Nikki A.S.H. vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair for the Raw Women’s Championship (SummerSlam 2021).

AEW/Other Wrestling

After deactivating her Twitter account due to receiving hate, Riho thanked everyone for their supportive messages: “Thank you for many messages. I realized that I was loved by more people than I thought. Thank you guys and I love you guys”On the Unconsciously Coupled podcast, Bryan Danielson spoke about his condition following Revolution: "Legitimately, I'm in a ton of pain. I just wrestled for over 65 minutes. I've got a black eye. I can't lift my left arm past here [partially raises arm]. I have shooting pain going down my leg. There's this big gaping wound on my stomach. Those kind of things, it's like, 'Oh, sorry, daddy is in a lot of pain.' They understand that, but as they get older, they're going to understand that some of this is not physical.”ET Canada interviewed Chris Jericho ahead of tonight’s Dynamite in Winnipeg:There’s something about Winnipeggers, like when the Jets play in the playoffs it’s the loudest building in the entire league. Louder than Chicago, louder than New York. I think the pro wrestling world is in for a treat when they see our first show in Winnipeg. Plus showcasing Kenny Omega and showcasing Chris Jericho in our first AEW appearances in our hometown. It’s going to be one of those magical nights in pro wrestling that happens only when all the stars line up. And on Wednesday, the stars have lined up for sure.Jericho discussed how far AEW has come since its launch: We’ve gotten so big in three and a half years. So there are a lot of growing pains as we expected there would be. I don’t think anyone thought that we’d be doing the numbers that we’re doing, both in the arenas and ratings wise…So obviously we’re working on our infrastructure, working on all that sort of thing behind the scenes on building the corporate side of AEW. Everybody’s learning how to be on live TV still. It really is just everyone was thrown into the deep end and had to react accordingly. I’ve been very proud of everybody that’s been able to do that. We’ve had some bumps on the road, but that’s expected as pro wrestling. We’ve become a major television entity in a very short period of time.AEW World Champion MJF turns 27 years old today.MJF’s one birthday wish is for Jeff Jarrett to win the AEW International Championship tonight: “All I want for my birthday is Double J bringing home the gold. #AEWDynamite”Tony Khan and Madusa appeared on Busted Open Radio this morning.Renee Paquette wrote about Nikki and Brie Garcia (the former Bellas) leaving WWE and starting a new chapter: “Brie and Nikki changed the game. To be able to watch them as locker room leaders, in ring competitors, friends, moms, wives- they have helped me so much throughout my career/ life! I’m excited to see what this next chapter looks like for them! Get it, Garcia’s”After posting an old picture of her as a fan with The Bellas, Britt Baker tweeted: “For real there’s not a single female wrestler today who wasn’t somehow inspired/influenced by @NikkiAndBrie. Thank you. #RoleModels”Impact Wrestling uploaded a Diary feature on Gisele Shaw.EJ Nduka tweeted after his final appearance for MLW aired: “Thank you @MLW. It’s been one crazy ride. & Thank you all for supporting me… THE JUDGE IS JUST GETTING STARTED See you soon.”A Middleweight title match with Lince Dorado defending against Lio Rush is set for MLW’s War Chamber tapings in New York City on Thursday, April 6.
