Students at IIT Kharagpur, the top institute among all IITs in the country, have developed unique solutions to detect counterfeit currency, which remains a perennial issue in the country. Not just this, the students have also devised a solution to track nuclear radiation through wearable sensors.
The solutions were at a display at the recently held Smart India Hackathon 2019.
A group of six students from the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering IIT Kharagpur have developed a code for a smartphone application to address the problem of detecting fake Indian currency, said a report by PTI.
“The application, which can be installed on smartphones, can be used by people at various touch points thus reducing chances of fraud. The six students who developed the code are TYSS Santosh, Satish Kumar Reddy, Vipul Tomar, Sai Krishna, Drishti Tulsi and D V Sai Surya,” added the report.
