Rhea Ripley wll face Io Shirai in the former’s first match since losing the title to Charlotte Flair at last month’s WrestleMania. She returned on last week’s show after the Flair-Shirai title match, saving Shirai when Flair was attacking her leg after she was already disqualified. However, Shirai didn’t take kindly to Ripley’s presence and the two got into a pull apart backstage, setting up next week’s match.

While not formally announced, it was mentioned during an Undisputed Era segment and hinted on Kyle O’Reilly’s Twitter that Roderick Strong will face Dexter Lumis. Lumis made his presence felt during last week’s Adam Cole-Velveteen Dream NXT title match as he prevented Strong and Bobby Fish from interfering on Cole’s behalf.
The interim NXT Cruiserweight title tourney will roll on with two matches as Kushida will look to stay unbeaten (2-0) in Group A action against Drake Maverick (1-1) while El Hijo del Fantasma (1-1) will face the also unbeaten Akira Tozawa (2-0) in a Group B match. Isaiah Scott was eliminated from contention Wednesday as he fell in defeat to the also eliminated Jack Gallagher in a Group B match.
