Tarrytown's Rubber Ducky Derby Set For Sunday

TARRYTOWN, NY — The rescheduled Rubber Ducky Derby Day in Tarrytown is set for Sunday.

The annual fundraising event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Patriot’s Park in Tarrytown.

Heavy rains in the forecast forced organizers to postpone the original date of April 29.

The event will feature duck racing down Andres Brook in heats every half hour starting at 11:30 a.m.

Larah Alami, a member of the Tarrytown Rotary and president-elect of the organization, had two words for Patch about the day-long festivities: “Quack Quack!”

“There is something for everyone including duck races with cash prizes, food trucks, bouncy castles and more,” she said.

A yellow rubber ducky can be “adopted” for $10. Also available are a “six-quack” for $50 or a tub of 13 ducks for $100, Alami said.

The duckies can be adopted online or purchased at the event.

Alami said the money raised stays in the community in the form of grants and scholarships.

“Groups and students from local schools are invited to apply for grants and scholarships on a yearly basis,” she said, “so the money raised truly does go right into the hands of people who need it most in our towns.”
