MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police are investigating what they described as a suspicious death after a body was found in the Hockanum River Monday.
The body was reported at 3:26 p.m. and it was discovered in the river near Hilliard Street and New State Road, police said.

With the assistance of the Manchester Fire Department, the body was removed from the river, police said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was contacted and the person was transported there for an autopsy, police said.
Investigators are working to identify the deceased and the events leading up to the discovery of the body, police said.
